Leaders in Literacy
Join us for part two of our discussion with Mandy Mellville, founder and director of the nonprofit foundation, Creative Language-based Learning, and Yvette Richards-Thompson, principal of Denham Town High School in Kingston, Jamaica. Mandy and Yvette will update us on Denham Town High School’s efforts to ensure all students have access to evidence-based literacy intervention and how this has impacted student behavior, attendance rates, and the reduction of juvenile crime rates.
Mandy will also discuss their progress in scaling an integrated literacy and life skills program across 272 public schools in Jamaica—204 primary and 68 secondary schools—in partnership with Lindamood-Bell and the International Youth Foundation, a global youth-serving organization.
