Elementary School Results, Math, On Cloud Nine, Tennessee
Fairmount Elementary School in Bristol, Tennessee, serves a large percentage of students who are at-risk of math failure. During the 2011-12 school year, Fairmount implemented Lindamood-Bell® instruction to address the specific needs of this student population. Forty-one students received an average of 47 hours of On Cloud Nine instruction to develop numeral imagery for math. Instruction was delivered by Fairmount teachers who received professional development in the Lindamood-Bell programs. Student gains were measured with a math assessment and were compared to gains made by students who did not receive On Cloud Nine instruction.

On average, On Cloud Nine students achieved a significantly greater improvement than comparison students on math. In addition, On Cloud Nine students went from the 18th percentile at pretest to the 35th percentile at posttest, which was also statistically significant. The results of this study illustrate that Lindamood-Bell instruction in the On Cloud Nine program leads to improved math, which is essential to achieving success with school curricula.
