Fulton County Schools – iReady Data Summary – Midyear 2021-22
Georgia, i-Ready, Progress Monitoring, Seeing Stars, Special Education, Tier 3
Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, GA, a district of 94,000 students, serves a large percentage of students who are at-risk of reading failure. During the 2021-22 school year, Fulton County special education teachers implemented LindamoodBell® instruction to address the specific needs of this student population. Teachers in Fulton County Schools received professional development in the program developed by Lindamood-Bell’s founders: Seeing Stars, to develop symbol imagery and phonemic awareness for reading, and were supported through ongoing, job-embedded professional development. Students in grades K-8 received small group instruction as close to daily as feasible for between 30-45 minutes. (Note: some small groups received Visualizing and Verbalizing® instruction for language comprehension and critical thinking.)
RESULTS: Midyear i-Ready data reflects that students made highly statistically significant gains in all subtests, and made
98% of expected growth (typical would be 50%) and 43% of stretch growth expected for the full school year, in just one
semester.
