Wondering what the Lindamood-Bell Academy is?

Where will my child attend?

the answer is

Your child can attend in person at one of our Learning Centers, online, or a combination of both. Lindamood-Bell Academy is a private school accredited in California operating virtually in all our US Learning Centers.

Questions & Answers

What is the cost?

We will make recommendations for the best Academy package for your student that ensures an individualized approach. These packages could include sensory-cognitive instruction as well as curriculum.

Do you offer breaks/outdoor/recess time?

Yes!

The lunch period is an hour for all students. Activities include, but are not limited to: Fit2Learn, a movement class developed by acclaimed fitness expert, Dr. Ronda Beaman (Dr. B). Dr. B will lead Students through various exercises and activities while also focusing on how movement helps the learning process. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in additional games/activities during their lunch hour Some sites have access to outdoor space. Students also have breaks between classes and also have a 15 minute morning break.

Do you offer Art, Languages, Music, PE, and Gifted and Talented?

Yes!

Our curriculum offers options for all of the above, including different electives based on a student’s grade and/or enrollment package. Elective and gifted placement courses may vary based on grade level.

Do you provide snacks and lunch?

We provide a lunch period for all students. We will provide snacks for in-center students, and students will need to bring their own lunch.

What time does the school day start/end?

Generally, the school day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. A partial day package schedule (8-12, or 1-5) may be available upon approval.

Will a one-to-one or small group school negatively impact my child's social development?

Our instructors help students navigate positive social interactions. Academy students who attend in person can interact with classmates on campus. All our students, those who attend online and in person, interact with their classmates from around the US and UK.

I don't live in California, where Academy is located. Do I need to register my child with my school district as being homeschooled?

Because requirements vary from state to state and even district to district, families should contact their district of residence to find out if they are required to submit anything if they are withdrawing or obtaining alternative school placement (i.e. Lindamood-Bell Academy).

Does Lindamood-Bell Academy follow a student's IEP?

While Lindamood-Bell Academy provides services that may target goals and objectives on the IEP, it does not take responsibility for the IEP, as the LEA (local education agency) would.

Is Lindamood-Bell Academy approved and accredited in my state?

Lindamood-Bell Academy is approved and accredited in the state of California only.

Is Lindamood-Bell Academy an approved MA 766 (or other state) program?

Lindamood-Bell Academy is currently accredited as a California private school, we are not approved in other state specific programs.

Is Lindamood-Bell Academy a certified Nonpublic School?

Lindamood-Bell Academy is not a certified Nonpublic School.

Are Lindamood-Bell Academy teachers/instructors certified?

Student teams are overseen by our Director of Curriculum as well as Managers of Curriculum who have teaching credentials or specific curriculum and instructional experience. These teams also include Curriculum Advisors and teaching assistants who hold credentials and/ or have specific curriculum knowledge as well. Finally, teams also include Lindamood-Bell Clinicians and Consultants who may also hold teaching credentials or have specific curriculum experience.

My Child has special needs. Can Lindamood-Bell Academy differentiate coursework for him/her and offer (more) accommodations?

Yes, Lindamood-Bell Academy does differentiate curriculum and provide accommodations and modifications for K-8 students. At the same time, we strive to maintain the K-8 content and standards to support our students for success in school outside of Lindamood-Bell Academy, as well. Additionally, Lindamood-Bell Academy can differentiate coursework and provide accommodations for high school students working toward a diploma. However, the differentiated material must meet the standards of the state of California for that specific course, in order to meet the graduation requirement and receive a diploma. Lindamood-Bell Academy can also provide course modifications to meet the needs of students working towards a Certificate of Completion.

Does Lindamood-Bell Academy offer summer school?

Lindamood-Bell Academy does not offer summer school at this time. However, Academy students are welcome to attend summer school at other schools or schedule intensive sensory-cognitive instruction at an additional fee.
