During the Spring 2026 semester, Lindamood-Bell partnered with Orange Public Schools to provide extensive job-embedded professional development including initial workshops, asynchronous coursework, and live, fully interactive support sessions to help teachers build capacity and maintain fidelity. Orange Public Schools implemented Lindamood- Bell instruction to address the specific needs of students in the district struggling with comprehension. Intensive, small-group instruction was provided by district staff in the programs developed by Lindamood-Bell’s founders. Student gains were measured with a battery of reading assessments.

RESULTS
On average, Visualizing and Verbalizing students achieved significant improvements in comprehension. They made large standard score changes on all expected measures – Comprehension and Vocabulary. Additionally, the eighteen-point percentile increase in Comprehension put these students within the normal range (25th-75th percentile). Their pre- to posttest results were statistically significant on all expected measures. These results illustrate that implementation of Lindamood-Bell’s professional development model can lead to significant improvement in comprehension, which is essential to achieving success with school curricula.

Through this partnership, Lindamood-Bell provided intensive reading and comprehension instruction to young people in the juvenile justice system.
Using the Seeing Stars® and Visualizing and Verbalizing® programs, Project of Hope helped students strengthen their reading and comprehension skills. An independent evaluation found significant gains, offering new hope and opportunities for their futures.

Lindamood-Bell co-founder and speech-language pathologist Patricia Lindamood and her daughter, Phyllis Lindamood, revised the Auditory Discrimination in Depth (ADD) program and published the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® Program for Reading, Spelling, and Speech (LiPS®).

The LiPS® Program helps students develop phonemic awareness by teaching them to discover and label the mouth movements that produce speech sounds. Students learn to identify and sequence sounds in words, then apply those skills to reading, spelling, and speech.
