About the Programs

The Seeing Stars® Symbol Imagery for Phonological and Orthographic Processing in Reading and Spelling Program 

 

This program provides sensory-cognitive development of symbol imagery—the ability to visually image sounds and letters within words. Dual coding of imagery and language supports the development of phonemic awareness, visual memory, word attack, word recognition, spelling, contextual reading (both accuracy and fluency), and reading comprehension. The program develops the imagery-language connection for spontaneous self-correction and accurate, fluent contextual reading.

 

The Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking® Program

 

This program provides sensory-cognitive development of concept imagery—the ability to create an imaged gestalt (whole) from oral and written language. Dual coding with imagery and language supports the development of oral vocabulary, oral language comprehension, reading comprehension, written language expression, ability to follow directions, and critical/analytical thinking.
